Mamo's 15 Minutes of Fame!

Who says, "No body ever wins these things"?  And we did it on Friday the 13th!

D.C. Visit

After the wedding festivities were over Saturday eve, some of us went into the District to see some monuments before Christian and Shandra had to head home Sunday morning.  We started at the Jefferson Memorial.
It was a little chilly, but we managed to stay warm.
I do like the monuments at night.
After Jefferson, we moved on the Lincoln.
Sunday was a beautiful day, and we drove into the District again.  The Mall was spectacular with clear blue sky and fall colors.

Paid a visit to the National Botanic Garden.  Here we have Mamo with the 1000 mum tree.
We also got a bit of Chinese (?) music that was delightful.
 Lunch on the Mall.

The posers before we enter the National Gallery of Art.
We concluded the day with more time at the Natural History Museum.  Monday was Roosevelt Island Park and the Zoo.  Tuesday was the Spy Museum and Ford Theater.  Add some great meals, and these days were perfect.  Sorry everyone couldn't stay until the end.  Wednesday we took the Metro to DCA and began our three-legged flight home.  It was a long, long day!

Wedding of the Year

Court and Dustin Homer were married in the Washington, D.C. Temple on November 9, 2013.  Fortunately, all of our family (except for Betsy and Tristan) were able to come for the special event.  We arrived on Tuesday and Wednesday (J. Lynn from a Seattle visit with Leslie) and spent most of the next two days visiting, finishing preparations and making pickups at the airports.  Saturday was a very special day.  A few candid shots while we were getting organized for more formal pictures.

Now for the more formal stuff.  First, Court and her friends.

 With Jill & Collin
 Dustin w/ Mom & Dad
 with Grandma Taggart
The Hastings clan

 Sibs
 With the bride and groom
 With our sweet daughter
The reception was held in Virginia.  Food by roommate Kari's friend Mario.  (You can check out his cooking at the Capitol.)  Set up by roommates and friends; bluegrass music.

All in all, an absolutely perfect day (well, except for the traffic jam on the way to the temple, but we made it).

Pololu and Beyond

A friend and former law partner, Steve Jacobson, is visiting this weekend, so we spent most of the day hiking into Pololu. Couldn't have had a nicer day.

The trail down into Honokane Nui was damaged by the earthquake, so a new trail was cut almost straight down with ropes to hang onto.  Made going down very easy and coming up wasn't as bad as I expected.

Bring back any memories?

I've never seen the valley floor so green.
Looking back on our way out of Pololu
Beautiful day, great hike, delightful company.  And some serious exercise.  Hope I can get up in the morning!
