Go out and play!

Anna's new post inspired me to recommend a piece by Rosa Brooks. I think she's right on!

Whitney Kringel -- Finally!!

A few pix of the big event before I head to bed. It was wonderful to have everyone together. I only have a few pix. Will have to post more when we get some better ones back. (Sorry, I didn't get any of Rob, Anna and family.)
I know they say you're supposed to keep your eyes half-closed after marriage. Whit's never had a problem.

The Wieses and the Kringels

The wedding day was perfect. The party was wonderful. Everyone said nice things about Jim and Whit. All that plus the best dessert table I've ever seen. Couldn't have been better -- except that we didn't really have enough time to just be together.

More Sowell

Excellent article by Thomas Sowell today. Also an excellent one on doomsday predictions by Walter Williams. These are two of favorite columnists.

Organic Smog

What you are looking at here is pure, unadulterated, all natural smog (mostly SO2, I think) obscuring Mauna Kea. (You can see it better if you blow up the pic.) Madam Pele has been producing the stuff in enormous quantities of late, inundating Kona and even impacting Waimea. Makes the eyes burn on bad days. Don't know how it compares with the man-made stuff that haunts the LA basin and Salt Lake Valley during inversions, but I do hope it doesn't last too long!
